Barbecue Cooking

Intro

Hello and welcome to another artful bodger video! Today, I’m going to show you how to cook a delicious salmon dish using my Aldi Kamado oven. If you haven’t already, check out my unboxing video of the Aldi Kamado oven. It is a fantastic piece of kit that I’ve been using to cook some of my family’s favorite recipes. In this video, I’ll be cooking salmon on cedarwood and I’ll be showing you how to make a brine, the right way to soak cedarwood, and how to use the Aldi Camardo oven to cook the salmon to perfection.

Ingredients

  • Half a side of Salmon
  • 125ml of boiling water
  • 50g of salt
  • 1 tbsp of pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp of garlic granules
  • 600ml cold water
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1 lemon

Making the Brine

To make the brine, start by boiling 125 milliliters of water. Next, add 50 grams of salt and stir until it dissolves. I recommend using canning salt, but table salt works fine too. Then, add 1 tablespoon of pepper (freshly ground or pre-ground), and half a tablespoon of garlic granules. Finally, add 600 milliliters of cold water and a cup of ice to cool the mixture down. Pour the mixture over the salmon in a tupperware container and seal it. Store in the fridge and agitate it every 15 minutes to ensure the mixture seeps into the salmon properly. Soak the salmon in the brine for at least two hours.

Cooking the Salmon

Take the salmon out of the fridge and pat it dry with some kitchen roll. Light the Aldi Kamado oven and preheat it to between 150 and 175 degrees. Place the cedar planks in the oven and then place the salmon on top. Insert a temperature probe into the middle of the salmon and make sure it is set to 63 degrees. Place some lemon slices on top of the salmon and cook until the temperature probe goes off.

Final Thoughts

The Aldi Kamado oven is a fantastic piece of kit for cooking delicious salmon dishes. By following these steps, you can cook salmon on cedarwood that is juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Don’t forget to check out the temperature probe I mentioned in the video, it’s a great investment and will make cooking even easier.

Enjoy your delicious cedar plank salmon!
